Vassili Neplokh

I am a music producer and film music composer. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, I moved to Sweden at the age of eleven and started playing guitar a year later. Pretty soon I was writing my own music and lyrics for songs. At the age of 17 I started recording music and quickly got into the world of music production. At that point I’ve already learned to play bass, drums and piano. 

I have a Bachelor degree in Sound & Music Production and a one year Master degree in Audiovisual Studies from Dalarna University in Falun, Sweden. 

For composing, I mostly use my gorgeous seven-string guitar, since I strongly believe that an electric guitar has a lot of potential to base a film score on. I always experiment with guitar effects, alternate tunings and alternative playing techniques. 

My heavier music is influenced by nü-metal giants Slipknot, Deftones, Korn and Limp Bizkit, alongside Tool, Radiohead, Pink Floyd and ambient masters Harold Budd and Robin Guthrie. I look up to composers Ludwig Göransson, Cliff Martinez and Tyler Bates

Besides releasing my own music, I create some heavy progressive nü-metal as Dollhide. In recent years I have also directed and edited several music videos and a short action comedy film ‘Clean Objective’.

On a personal note, I love sun, cats and the color orange. I have a thing for Barbaresco wines and an unhealthy fascination with Christopher Nolan's film 'Tenet'.

I live and work in Malmö, Sweden.
